A few more

This was a great project to work on today while I was nagging my son to work on his homework.  It's definitely a no brainer.  So, I finished six more border sections (10 done and 10 more to go).  While I was working on it, I felt like I kept seeing the same fabrics so I figured it was time to go hunt down some new additions.

I cut a new little stack of squares from scrap fabrics that I've been given.  Thank you to Priscilla, Suzi's Mom in Colorado, and John.  I found some great fabrics in the scraps they gave me.  During the search, I have decided that it's getting close to time to clean out my craft room.  It has migrated to a few other parts of the basement now.  We have a little problem with flat surfaces at my house...if we find one, stuff gets piled on it!  (notice the husband's glasses on my ironing board!!!  Aargh!)  Well, I don't think the cleaning will happen anytime soon but, at least it's on the "to do list".

Scrappy Postage Stamp WIP

This is a WIP that I have been working on lately.  I'm calling it my scrappy postage stamp quilt.  I won a ton of 2 1/2 in squares from a quilt retreat last fall.  So, when I went to the retreat this past fall I decided to bring them along and start working on using them up.

Turquoise colored fabrics draw me at the store but I don't seem to use them up very fast.  So, my stash is full of blues, turquoise and green ranges that I used as checkerboard pieces along with the scrappy won pieces.  I'm hoping in the end it will read as more of a blue-green quilt.

Today I ironed the 25 blocks that I have finished for the center.  I only screwed up the checkerboard on one!  I don't think it will be noticed though.

My next step is to do a border of these blocks in all my favorite fabrics.  And then I will make more of the other original blocks as a final border so it's big enough for my bed with 2 butts in it!

Zig Zag show off

Apparently I've gone brain dead for the moment and I can't remember how to turn the photo.  Anyway, you get the idea.  This quilt was meant to be it's own thing.  I had it all planned out and the zig-zags were supposed to go the other direction and be smaller.  Well, you know what happens when you cut fabric when you're tired!  So, I had to figure out another plan.  It sat for at least a year while I gathered up the nerve to mess with it.

Ignore the wrinkles. This is the backing that I pieced with the leftovers.  I'm happy that I was able to use all the leftover half square triangles.  It's a little different for me to not have it matchy-matchy but I think I like it.
The best part is that it's getting closer to done!

Adding Inventory

A couple months ago, my sister and I took a road trip to 2 Sister's Quilt Shop in Bear Lake, MI.  They were going out of business.  Wow did I spend a lot but it was a huge deal and I love their fabrics!

This is the yardage that I bought.

And these are the fat quarter bundles.

I'm looking forward to using these in a new project.

For the record, I really don't need any new projects.  I sit down with my list at the beginning of every year to see where I'm at with my WIP's.

I have 84 projects to work on.
47of those are started.

In 2014 I only finished one project.  So, this is going to have to be a big year to finish a bunch!
Here I go....
