WIP

I have been working but I just don't have anything finished yet.
I finished sewing my rows together for my wall hanging.  Now, I'm auditioning fabrics for my setting triangles.  I had a big hunk of this red left over from another project and thought it might work.  I don't know yet.  I think I am leaning toward something darker.

I have been doing a lot of fussy cutting.  I'm almost ready to start putting more blocks together.  I just have the dark flower strips to fussy cut yet.  And, it would have been almost done if I wouldn't have cut strips at 6 inches when I needed 6 1/2 inches.  That's what happens when I think that I know what I'm doing and I don't double check!

I have also taken some time to smell the...

And, I know that it's a strange time of year to get the urge to bake but, I've got it.  I think my biological calendar is off a bit.  I really don't know how it got to be summer.

Getting ready for borders

Here is the center of my Fit to be Geese quilt.  I added another row to make it longer.  Oh, and ya know how I moaned and groaned about trimming all those geese?  Well, I miss counted and I have a bunch left.  I couldn't believe it!  I think I will make a wall hanging with them.

Here's a closer shot.  I just love that floral fabric!

Red & White BOM

It's a little wrinkled but, it's finished.  I can't wait to have them all done.  Some block of the months, I don't have finished by the next month but, this one is quick and easy.  I feel relaxed making it and wish I had the rest of the year now.

Olde World Style Block

I am enjoying playing with this fabric.  There are so many possibilities.  I changed from my original idea for this quilt but now these corner circles will be next to each other.  So, now I'm thinking a thin black sashing might be nice.  Guess I'll put a few more blocks together and see what I think.

I also tried switching the strips before I put it together...
I like it this way too.  I just might have to alternate these two blocks.

Quicker Geese (sort of)

My dear sister let me borrow her spinning cutting mat.  I loved it.  It was really making my flying geese a whole lot faster.
I was just zipping along when...
I lost the tip of my finger!!!

All of a sudden, I wasn't zipping along anymore.

I am happy to report that I finished trimming all of those geese and I am starting to sew them into foursies.
And, I didn't loose too much finger.  I think it will grow back (I hope).

Broke and Busted

This past week I have made a couple of trips to the quilt shop.  I bought this lovely Olde World Style fabric.
Now I'm BROKE!

And, I went sewing til midnight at the shop.  When I packed up my stuff and slammed the trunk, it crunched.
Now it's BUSTED!
I think I'm going to cut it into a smaller section so it can still be used.  But, I'll need to buy a new one.  Guess that means another shopping trip.

I'll be happy when it's done

I just have to keep telling myself that because these little geese are NOT making me happy!

Have I whined lately about how much I hate to trim down blocks?  Consider it done.
I am more than half way done Yippee!
It's been a very busy week and I haven't had much time to play but when I did, I sat down and cut 10 or so.
Like I said,
I'll be happy when it's done!

Great find

This quilt rack is the best thing since sliced bread!
I love it!  It's really big!  The center will go either direction so it can be moved into a square if I want.
It goes all the way across my living room!  It will be perfect in the basement family room.  So, last night I started cleaning the basement.  We have to get the second couch out of there first.  Maybe Tuesday.

Oh, no!  My kids are making a tent out of it right now!

Finished

This verse quilt is finally quilted and finished.  I really like how it turned out.  I didn't use a pattern, I just did my own thing.

This is a picture of the back of the quilt.  I think I am in love with the fabric.  It is Olde World Style and I NEED to do a whole quilt out of this but I can't find a pattern that I like.  I think I'll just have to wing it.
The basket in this shot is from my recent garage sale trip with my favorite neighbor!  She is such an enabler.  Hehehe.  Wait until tomorrow when I post about one of my other great buys!

This is a cheater quilt that I added a binding to for a donation.
Quick and easy!
I bought this on our garage sale trip too.  For two bucks, I couldn't pass it up.  Now, I've finished my project that I bought over the weekend, I wonder if my neighbor will finish hers (not a chance, she bought more fabric than I did and that's probably a first)!

Sometimes life just isn't fair in the land of UFO's.  I just finished 2 projects but somehow, I added 2 in the meantime.  So, I'm right back where I started!

P.S.  I am still working on those crazy little flying geese which I am not loving anymore.  I do a few everyday.  I am still looking for flannel for the back of my jean quilt but I'm leaning toward ordering PFD (Prepared For Dyeing) and doing my own.  And, because I don't have enough of my own projects to do, I took on a quilt finishing project for one of my customers that needs to be hand quilted.  What was I thinking???

Red and White BOM

I did get my Mother's Day wishes.  My kid's were actually pretty good.  I admired one of my quilts as I showed my Mom when she was over.  And, I did get to sew just a little bit before bed.
I finished my Block of the Month.  Here are the four that we've done so far...
I've really been enjoying this BOM.  I like the large pieces, they go together without much thought and it's a bonus that the sashing comes with it!  If I remember right, I think these finish at 18 inches.  This is a from Fabric Quilt Scissors in New Era, MI.

Mom's Gifts to Me

My Mother must know me pretty well.  For Christmas this past year she paid for one of my quilts to go to the longarmer.  I loved it!

She also knows that I like old quilts and I like to try and save them.  So, when she came across this bedspread from her childhood, she gave it to me.  She thinks maybe her Mother made it.
I would like to save the blocks that are good and put them into a quilt.

There are more than this but it gives you a good idea.  I just love them!

Then, as if that wasn't enough, Mom and Dad bought me a quilt from an auction at my kid's school.  The quilt was made when my oldest was in Kindergarten and the teacher put it in the auction for their last year at that school (8th grade).  Mom and Dad out bid everyone so she could give it to me for Christmas.

(Sorry, imagine it hanging vertical)
So, the teacher had them paint leaves and then print them on the fabric.
Here is my son's leaf.
This quilt was also hand quilted by the teacher.  And, she just happens to be the one who invited me to my first quilt guild meeting.

My Mom is the Best!  I hope you have a happy Mother's Day!

Looking forward to...

My day tomorrow.
I would like to take time to look at and feel the quilts.
That would make me happy on Mother's Day.
Or, maybe I could do a little sewing...or both!

Mostly, I would just like to make it a day without my boys fighting like cats and dogs!
I know that's asking a lot.

Fit to be Geese

Well, I was told that I should show the picture of the pattern that I'm working on.  But, I couldn't just show the pattern...so, I tried one of each of the colors for my geese using the ruler that came with the pattern.  I just have to say, my geese came out just perfect!  I never have "perfect" geese.  I kind of enjoyed using the ruler and maybe I just need to do a few at a time.  Normally, I can't stand to trim blocks down.  Four wasn't so bad.  I really don't want to think about how many more I have to go.
I don't know what it is about square quilts lately so, I am making it another row longer.  I wish I had more walls in my house.  I think a square quilt would look cute as a wall hanging.

P.S.  For those that are wondering, I got my pattern with the ruler from Fabric Quilt Scissors.  I don't know if they have it online but, I'm sure if you called, they would mail you one.

Don't know how it happens

Really!  I don't know how it happens.  I've started another project without finishing the last ones.  Just look at these fabrics though...
I think I will be sick of flying geese when this one is done.  There is a ruler that comes with the pattern so, I guess I will try that and see how it goes.

And then, as if that wasn't enough, I bought more fabric tonight and I wonder why there isn't anything in the fridge for dinner.

At least I'm thinking a tote bag would be cute out of these.  Then, I don't have to add it to my quilt ufo list!
