RSC star block test

I have been making crumb blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge to make this star.  Three months in and I decided I should probably make up a test block to see if I like it before I continue on the rest of the year.  I've decided it's super cute!  But, I don't enjoy ironing the seams.  I've noticed that I need to pay closer attention to where my crumb seams fall if possible.  I think the red will look better without so much white.

So, these were quick colors so I could make the test...

It's not crooked, there is a seam there and it's popped up on the corner.  I was in a hurry.

I think a couple of these greens look more yellow so I might do some darker next time.

RSC April block #3

These crumb blocks are going to be made into a star block.  I'm excited to try a rainbow star to see how it turns out.  I need to make up a few more colors so I can be sure that I want to continue making them.

RSC April block #1

 Pink!!!

This is always the easiest part of the month because I use some leftover spool parts and they go together quick.

I also pulled out most of my pinks and put together combo fabrics for churn dashes....oh my....

This is a pic of the top of my couch.  48 sets ready for cutting.  Also along the way I found a few stragglers for red, teal and yellow.

RSC March Yellow Blocks

32 churn dash

10 mini 9 patches

2 crumb blocks

4 scrap slab blocks

1 improv star (25 patch)

2 inprov star blocks

2 centers for x blocks

That was a lot of yellow!  I have to be honest though...I did have to buy a couple lights to go with some of the yellow scraps.

I'm really enjoying this challenge and seeing what everyone is making!

More churn dashing

Yellow is of course the color of this month.  I think these are the last of the yellow unless I find more or buy more.

And because I just keep buying fabric in the teal section...

I have also started another scrap project.  I'm making scrap slab fabric to cut the blocks from.  I worked on yellow and red today.

My pineapple blocks have 2 more started today.   A few rows added from the scraps I have out from the first three months.  I'm excited to find out what the color for April will be.

Quilt finish

This one has been hanging around waiting to be finished for about 4 years.

Finally done.

The backing has a border print along with a filler piece.

A couple of beauty shots.

 Still working on them...

And, I finished up a quilt late tonight so I'll see about getting pics tomorrow.

March RSC block #7 and a finish

Mini pineapple quilt for me.  I made one for my sister years ago and always wanted one.  This was the perfect month color to quick zip one together.  It's so cute!

I started with 1 inch squares.

Last night I made another churn dash and got the rows together for this quilt.

These blocks were won at a guild meeting by my friend.  When she moved from her big house to an apartment,  she gifted them to me.  It's on the way to becoming a donation quilt.

A bit of sewing

I am up to 48 blocks for the teal/turquoise churn dashes.  I think I'll need over a 100.  It's my favorite color choice so as long as I keep making them as I buy fabric, I think I'll make it.  Lol.

I also managed to find some more to make a few red and a yellow.

I also picked up a quilt from the quilter so as soon as I get the binding on, I'll have a few quilty pics for you.

Pineapple and RSC blocks

I finished 5 more pineapple blocks.   I'm so excited that it's starting to actually look like something.   I want it to be more than double this size and they take a long time to put together.  Definitely a work in progress.  (I did use strips of red, teal and yellow from the scrap challenge to finish up those last blocks.  Yay)

Also finished up a couple more scrap slab blocks for this month.

And a couple more to catch up on January's that I missed.

March RSC block #5

I had to cut a few more 2 1/2 inch squares to get this done.  I off set the star this time because I don't want them all the same.

March RSC block #4

I have been having fun putting these little guys together.

It's quite possibly become an addiction.

I've gone from scraps to picking some from my yardage.
I'm ok with that because at least my fabric is getting used and I have an excuse to buy more which is even more fun (until the bill comes).

I have finished 92 churn dash blocks all together for the 3 colors.  I wanted to make an all teal quilt with them but then I made a bunch of the other colors and now I'm not sure.  I guess I still have some time to figure it out.

Flying geese quilt finish

I am so in love with this quilt!  Flying geese are not my favorite block to make but, I loved the pattern "Up North".

The backing is so soft and fuzzy. The dandelion print is super cute.

I got a new quilting design on this one and I'm very happy with it.

I can't wait for a good snuggle!

March RSC block #2

These blocks have gotten to be quite fun for me.  They are 15 1/2 inches.  I'm thinking I might back track and make more of each month's colors since I've made more scraps.  It would be a fun quilt to give away...and it's happy!

March RSC block #1

I know this looks unfinished at this stage and it is but I'm so excited to be starting on the project.  It seemed overwhelming but now, bit by bit I can see it getting finished.

January RSC block #7

I kinda hate that these are so cute!  That means I need to make more!

It's all fun and games until this happens....

But don't worry, it gets fixed...

I just can't help myself...

Ok, that's it for the day...

I think I'm close to being caught up for January.   Just a few more.
