Flying Geese Jean Quilt Finished

This quilt has been in the works for a while.  I had to keep putting it away because it wasn't as fun as I thought it would be when I started it.  There were a few guys from work that donated their jeans.  They asked about it regularly so I knew I had to finish it.  At least the bright colors were right up my alley.  This is going to be a great quilt for this winter after snow blowing.  It's really heavy.  I used batting and then flannel for the back.  I didn't do much quilting on it...it was a bear to move in my machine.

I think that brings me to 67 UFOs left!  I will be working on finishing up a couple of others that I started earlier.  And, I NEED to finish hand quilting 2 quilts...I really haven't been enjoying it.  Maybe I AM ready for winter.  All that warm weather hasn't made me want to sit under a quilt lately.

I cleaned and oiled my machine.  I think she loves me again.  We are going to get a lot done soon.

My name is Dorothy and I have a problem

I'm addicted to fabric!
Here are my purchases from the one stop shop hop.
(I probably would have bought more but my husband was there with me.)

First purchase, 5 fat quarters.  I have a thing for fabrics with gold...even though I haven't done anything with them yet...I'm still collecting until I have enough.  I really fell for the print of the two on top but, if I'm buying two, I might as well buy 5.  And besides, the blue has silver in it not gold!
(I'm still holding back at this point.)

Then, we (my husband and I) made it to his cousin's booth.  They own Two Sisters quilt shop in Bear Lake, MI.  Here is where I spent the most.  I had two of these lovely bundles in my hand and kept going back to the third one when my hubby plopped it in my hand.  God love him!  I knew I married him for a reason.  I just didn't know what it was until now!  I'm still not sure why he did it...to make me happy, because it was his cousin's shop, or because he wanted to hurry this shopping experience along...but it really doesn't matter, I got my way ***grin***

Lastly, I bought these 4 fabrics in yard cuts from the shop across from us.  They were super nice people from Scrapyard Quilt Shop in Wanatah, IN.  This purchase was totally not my fault!  I blame our friend Shelley for calling me over there to ask me if a couple of fabrics matched.

Well anyway, I'm happy with what I came home with but I need to get cracking on my projects so I can play with some of my lovely fabrics.

I survived the one stop shop hop!

Here are some shots of our booth (Fabric Quilt Scissors).
We had trunk show quilts from 3 designers Amy Bradley, Eleanor Burns and Edyta Sitar.

My husband got a couple of shots from above but he couldn't get a picture of all the shops in one.
We had 18 shops there.

And it was kind of funny he got a picture of my sister and niece coming in the door and he didn't even know it!
Quilters are creative.  The shop in the above picture didn't know they would have the bleachers to hang quilts on so they went out and bought gallons of water to hold them up there.

I'll have to fill you in more later.

Fruity potholders

I've finished up three of these potholders.  I still have three more to go...only the binding left.
I'm hoping to have a little stash of finished goodies for Christmas gifts.
The back is just the silver batting that's pre-quilted.  I only did one square of quilting once the top was added.  Normally, I hand sew the binding on the back but, I need some practice with the machine and it is much quicker.

Fit to be Geese Finish

Here is my quilt from the pattern Fit to be Geese.  I altered it a little by adding another row to make it longer.

The floral fabric that I fell in love with is Natasha by Timeless Treasures.

Here is the back.  I love to have a pieced backing.
I did in the ditch quilting on this one with my home machine and am happy with how it turned out.

Here is a better shot of my Awesome Twister quilt.

Thanks to my neighbors for letting me take some pictures off of their deck.

Awesome Twister Finish

Here it is.  I just finished the binding on it.

The fabric line is Awesome by Sandy Gervais.

Isn't the backing fabric adorable?

Tomorrow I will try to get you a better shot.  It got dark out too soon.  Well, it didn't help that I fell asleep under this quilt while I was trying to sew the binding on.  I think it is one of those things I have to do with every quilt...ya know, test it out. **grin**

Elizabeth Rose

Elizabeth Rose and I have not been talking for quite some time now.  (I blogged about her back in March.  The center was finished and waiting for borders.)
I put the borders on and was thrilled that my mitered corners turned out well.  Then, I put her on the floor to check out the whole thing and...just about cried.  I was so worried about the miters that I never measured the borders!  They were ruffled...Big time!
So, I managed to tear them out (hated every minute of it!).
I tried again to sew on one side of the border after measuring.  It needed to be eased because it stretched out the center when I tore it apart.  Wow, it eased really nicely.  After a second look, it all eased into the first block and was ruffled yet again!
So, Elizabeth Rose and I didn't talk for a long time.  I didn't even want to look at her.

Last night was the turning point.  It was now or never.  Not so perfect and done is better than not finished.

Elizabeth Rose is a lot like my sister Elizabeth...a little off but still loved.

I'll probably have to have a couple more words with her when I do the quilting but, she's getting there.

Red and White BOM #7

I can't wait to get this finished.  I see it hanging in the shop and it's driving me crazy.  Ok, I was a little crazy before that.
