Mystery Quilt Finished

I have finally finished my mystery quilt through my quilt guild.  I chose a large meander to quilt it so it would get done quickly.

Here is a picture of the top before the quilting was done.

Well, just when I thought my UFO number was going to get smaller, I had an accident.  I (totally by accident) bought more fabric tonight for another quilt.  I think I am doomed, I'll never get caught up!

Well, I think that brings my 2011 UFO #'s to
83 UFOs
-12 Finished
=71 UFOs left

Tomorrow I think I will work on fixing borders on my Elizabeth Rose quilt or on my straight line quilting for a charm pack quilt.

Sew Happy--Happy Easter

My last row of geese have finally landed on my quilt.  Now if I can just find a flannel backing that I like hummm.  I have done a little bit of shopping online and found the perfect one and then, the company told me it is sold out and discontinued.  Argh!  I think I might be a little picky but, you know how it is when you get something in your head and want to find the perfect thing?

I also finished quilting my mystery quilt at my neighbor's house today (Thanks Priscilla!!).  Now I just have to remember where I put the fabric for the binding.  Maybe I can work on that tomorrow.  We are showing them at our guild meeting next month but, I'm sure I'll show it here before then.

I hope everyone had a happy Easter!  I love holidays where I get to celebrate AND do some of the things that I want to do on my day off!

Hexagon Flowers

My hexagon flowers are finished and ready for stems and leaves.  I have my paper piece copies made for the leaves.  But, I'm not starting that part until I have my jean quilt finished!  I soooo want to be done with that one.  And besides, I think I am kind of enjoying the slow process of my challenge quilt.

2 of 3 rounds of geese

My jean quilt is getting there.  I just have one more row of geese to put on and they are sewn and ready to be ironed.  I'm really not having fun with the ironing, it doesn't take much for it to pop back up.  But, I love how the quilt is looking!

A good thing

I have finally started to get some of my piecing done on the jean quilt that I started ages ago.  I finished the center of the quilt and it's looking pretty.  It's the start of a good thing.
I wasn't sure on a couple of the colors but I think it is going to be fine.  The jeans were donated by a few of my customers except a small amount of denim that I bought later when I found out that the pattern was wrong.

Signature Block

I have been enjoying Bumble Beans Inc blog for quite some time.  She has recently asked for a signature block so she can make a blogger's quilt.  Here is the block I have made for her...
Her other blog, 15 Minutes Play, has been very inspirational.  I think it would be fun to make fabric out of my scraps.  My wheels are still turning on that one.  I'll have to try it some day.

Now, I just need to get that block in the mail!

Row of Trees

My row of trees is finished!
I was only going to show a little but, I just couldn't help it.
They have already been added to the bottom of my challenge quilt.  My next row to finish is flowers made with my hexagons and they will be added to the top of the quilt.  I am almost finished with the hexagon flowers and then I will work on the stems and see if I like it that way.  Otherwise, I may just frame them into blocks.

Tomorrow, I will be sewing most of the day.  I have to decide what I want to work on.  I really should be working on my jean quilt that I promised to be done by the quilt show in July.  Ya know, July will be here before I know it.  I just have trouble sticking with it for very long.  And then there is the temptation of starting a new project!  Hummmm.

Mountain Top Quilt is Finished

I have finally finished my Mountain Top quilt!  The binding is on and it's ready to be nap tested!

Did I mention that I love it!  I can't believe my Husband said that he doesn't like this one!  He said he could probably sell it for about fifty bucks...and I said....
(Maybe I should skip that part)
Anyway, I'm sleeping with the quilt tonight!

Well, I think that brings my 2011 UFO #'s to
82 UFOs
-11 Finished
=71 UFOs left

P.S.  I stitched a couple more leaves over the weekend  in addition to the binding for my Mtn Top.

WIP

I have a lot of Works In Progress.  I will give you a sneek peek at a top that I have finished.  This is my first chance to show it since it was hanging in the quilt shop for their shop hop.

This is the first time I have had to mitre corners.  I think they turned out pretty good even if I am showing you the best one.

Well, it's another new month and I am trying to quilt at least one a month.  I think this is the one I'd like to do next.  I want to try that same flower motif that I used on the baby quilt earlier.  Guess I'd better start sucking up to my favorite neighbor!

Other WIP:  I am still straightline quilting one that I'm not in love with (so it's taking me forever).  Also, working on my challenge quilt with my neighbor...I'm working on stitching around my trees.  And, my Elizabeth Rose is waiting for me to tear out the borders  argh!  It was my second attempt at corners with a mitre.  My corners turned out good but apparently, I should have measured the length.  I always try to get away without doing that.  I think I have learned my lesson for the last time!  Also, working on a jean quilt that I promised to have done before the quilt show in July.  Last but not least, I am hand sewing the binding on my Mountain Top by Edyta Sitar quilt.  I have several others that I have started but these are the ones I'm currently working on.

Yippee Yippee!!

Yippee #1

I got my quilt back from the longarmer last night.

Here is a peek at the front.  I still have to put the binding on but, after I took the pictures, I trimmed it up and got out my binding that is all ready to go.

Yippee #2

I stopped by a friend's house the other day and she had a present for me.  She had given one to each of her kids and me.  She said she wanted to give us something that we will always remember her by everytime we get it out for the holiday (although, I think I will enjoy it the rest of the year in my craft room).  And I love it!

Well, I think my picture could be a little better but, you get the idea.  It's a Jim Shore figurine.  And, if you are familiar with those collectibles, you would know that it's quilty.  Here's a picture of the back...
I think it stands close to a foot tall.
She really shouldn't have...but, I really LOVE it!
Thanks Sue!  You're the best other Mom that I have!
